What’s Your Story?

Aug 16, 2013

“My story isn’t very impressive.”

“My story isn’t worthy of telling.”

“My story doesn’t compare to their story.”

“My story is already written.”

Sound familiar?

Have you ever had any of these thoughts creep into your psyche? I bet you have. I know I have. Let me be honest here, I still get these thoughts in my head. And, that’s okay because it drives me.

We all have a story. I don’t care who you are, what experiences you’ve had or haven’t had, what adversity you’ve faced, what challenges you’ve overcome…you have a story.

Where you are today is a beautiful place. Why is that, you ask? Because today is all we have. It’s easy to get lost in the past and self- limiting beliefs of our experiences. Conversely, it’s hard to look at all of our experiences as lessons and to really focus on the day at hand…and what the future holds.

I read something recently and it said something to the extent that when we’re going through life and our “story” is being created, we many times get overwhelmed and frustrated by the things we go through. However, when you look back on the forks in the road and the paths you’ve taken, your life turns into a novel that has brought you to this very day.

What if those obstacles you faced were there for a reason? What if that debilitating experience you’re going through now is just an opportunity that you need to seize?

The simple truth is that you DO have a story and the greatest part about all of this is that your story is STILL being told.

What’s your story going to look like in a year? 10 yrs? When it’s your time to go?

This is a change in mindset, but it’s one that is so important. It’s easy to get lost in the day to day…to fall victim to your circumstances.

You have a choice. We all do.

Go on…WRITE YOUR STORY. You don’t owe it to anyone else but yourself.
